Keys to Success: Yvette’s Monthly Title Tip
Potential Scam Targeting Tennessee Real Estate Agents
We want to keep you informed of a recent scam targeting our community. Fraudsters have been circulating false documents that appear to be official notices of investigations or administrative reviews from the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, using the department’s logo and impersonating Commissioner Carter Lawrence. It’s important to be aware that these documents are not legitimate and do not originate from either Tennessee REALTORS® or the Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC). It’s worth noting that TREC and Tennessee REALTORS® are separate entities, and TREC would never utilize the logo or letterhead of Tennessee REALTORS® in official communications. Genuine complaints filed with TREC will always include a case number, provide an opportunity for response, and offer clear instructions for submitting your response. If you receive any suspicious communications that appear to be from TREC, please do not hesitate to report them directly to the commission for investigation. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and share this information with colleagues to help protect all Realtors from falling victim to this scam.
Meet Yvette Meldrum
Yvette Meldrum is the heart and soul behind Mid-State Title. Yvette’s journey with the company began over three decades ago, starting as extra help during busy times, then transitioning into a full-time role in 1992. Initially, she served as a courier and admin person, but it was her innate curiosity and dedication that led her to explore all facets of the closing process. With Cynthia Beard’s mentorship, Yvette delved deeper into real estate law, eventually becoming the closing manager. Her journey didn’t stop there; during law school, she seized the opportunity to buy into the company, cementing her commitment to its success. Yvette’s guiding principle is simple yet profound: “Every day is a chance for you to change someone else’s life.” This ethos drives her and the entire team at Mid-State Title to prioritize service and value for every client. For Yvette, the most fulfilling aspect of her work lies in witnessing dreams come to fruition—whether it’s a first-time homebuyer, an investor, or a family selling their farm. Outside of work, Yvette finds joy in spending time with her family and her newest grand baby. Married to her husband Andrew for 30 years, they share a passion for travel, exploring new destinations together. For Yvette, success is deeply personal—it’s about the ability to positively impact others’ lives, regardless of the circumstances. She strives to be remembered for her authenticity and genuine care for people. With Yvette at the helm, the practice of real estate law becomes more than just a transaction—it’s a foundation for building wealth and enriching lives in Middle Tennessee’s vibrant community.
